Six Former GOP Chairmen Endorse Linda McMahon for U.S. Senate
September 29, 2011Six former State Chairmen of the Connecticut Republican Party today endorsed Linda McMahon for U.S. Senate. Chris Healy, George Gallo, Bill Hamzy, Herb Shepardson, Chris DePino and Dick Foley cited her success in business and commitment to economic growth as reasons for their support.
“Linda is a problem solver who knows what it takes to create jobs,” said Healy, who served as party chairman from 2007 to 2011. “She will fight to lower taxes, reduce regulations and cut spending so we can get the people of Connecticut working again. I am proud to endorse Linda for the U.S. Senate.”
“Linda is a proven job creator,” said George Gallo, chairman from 2005 to 2007. “When Linda talks about improving the economy and growing jobs, she does so from experience. There are not enough people in Washington who have experience creating jobs. If we want different results in Washington, we must stop sending the same type of person. Connecticut needs Linda McMahon in the U.S. Senate.”
“Linda would make a great Senator because she has a good handle on what it takes to enact government policies to promote economic development and, in turn, create jobs,” said Hamzy, who was chairman in 2005.
“Linda knows how job creators think because she has created jobs here in Connecticut,” said Shepardson, the party’s chairman from 2003 to 2005. “I am supporting Linda because there are too few people in Washington who know what it takes to put the people of our state back to work.”
“I know it’s a cliché, but Linda truly is a breath of fresh air,” said DePino, who served as chairman from 1996 to 2003. “We need people like her in Washington. Her background running a successful business and her focus on growing the economy are just what this country needs right now. Washington needs more job creators, not more unemployment makers.”
“Linda will be a fresh voice in Washington,” said Foley, chairman from 1989 to 1993. “We need an outsider’s perspective in Congress because clearly, the people who have been entrenched on the inside for years, if not decades, are not making the progress that needs to be made.”
“These men share my commitment to serving the people of Connecticut,” McMahon said. “It’s a responsibility I take seriously, and I will work with them and across party lines to make sure our common goals are achieved – creating jobs and restoring confidence in our economy.”
The six GOP chairmen are just the latest to formally endorse Linda McMahon’s candidacy for the U.S. Senate. This week, she also received endorsements from former Ambassador and gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley; elected officials Livvy Floren, Peter Tesei, and David Theis from her hometown of Greenwich; and Stamford Mayor Mike Pavia. “When Linda McMahon talks about jobs and the economy, they’re not just words – she’s lived it,” Pavia said.
McMahon kicked off her campaign last week with a jobs tour across the state. It began with her formal announcement at a small business in Southington and included visits to 15 small businesses that are focused on putting Connecticut back to work. The week ended with a barbecue with more than 250 supporters to celebrate the opening of McMahon’s campaign headquarters in North Haven.
