Anavar or Var is one of the most demonized and yet effective steroids every produced. The drug, also known as oxandrolone was introduced in 1964 by Searle. It was an oral steroid and had several beneficial uses, including helping with bone regrowth, speeding healing of burns, and drastically decreasing surgery recovery times. Unfortunately, since it was an oral steroid, the drug was lumped in with other oral steroids which were not as safe nor as effective.
In the 1980s, the use of steroids was rampant, especially in professional sports and bodybuilding. Baseball players got a lot of publicity for illegally using steroids to improve their performance. The media coverage helped convince the American public that any steroid was bad and eventually Searle stopped producing Var.
The drug is a mild steroid taken orally and can be used in a number of ways. It is considered a good drug for people who’ve never taken a steroid since it doesn’t have many negative side effects, see our Anavar results and reviews. The drug is usually prescribed in 2.5 mg tablets which is the recommended dose. This dose is so low that it is even safe for children.
Unfortunately, bodybuilders will usually up this recommended dose in an attempt to gain more muscle mass. Bodybuilders have to take at least 25 mg and often up to 50 mg daily to really see any muscle growth. This means they must either take much more than the recommended dose or procure more through underground laboratories or retailers.
Of course, the problem with buying any drug through an underground provider is being sure of the quality of the product. Many times, buyers don’t receive what they paid for.
Another reason Var is popular among bodybuilders is its reputation of not negatively impacting the liver. Again, this is with normal, recommended doses. When bodybuilders up the dose they take, then they also increase the potential for negative side effects, including liver damage.
Despite its relatively benign impact when used responsibly, Var can certainly damage the liver if an individual takes too much at one time or over a period of time. Var is a 17 alpha alkylate which means it doesn’t breakdown in the liver. Taking too much of this steroid creates a strain on the liver and can result in liver damage.
When used correctly, Anavar can be a very effective drug. Today, it is primarily available only through underground retailers. Before purchasing, it is imperative that the buyer knows what they are buying.
